Maloree Joy Strong

Maloree Joy Strong, age 30, of Redby, Minnesota died on Sunday, June 18, 2023. She was born on June 29, 1992 in Bemidji, Minnesota, the daughter of Melodie Strong and Donovan Needham. She worked for the Red Lake School District, Red Lake Casino and the past decade at Oshkiimaajitahdah as an Office Manager. She graduated from Red Lake High School in 2010 and obtained her 2-year college degree from Leech Lake Tribal College in 2015.

She loved being a mother to her four children. When she wasn’t taking care of her children, she enjoyed playing pool, golfing, bingo, basketball, casino, being with friends dancing and having fun. She will always be known as a silly goose. 

Maloree is survived by her children Harmony, Alexander, Leia, and Zachary; children’s father Tim Lajeunesse; sisters Maelyn (Janette) and Madonna Strong, Alexis and McKensie Needham and special sister Datonnah Strong; brother Matthew “George”; parents Melodie (Mike Church) Strong and Donovan Needham; grandmother Ramona Needham; uncles Rex Sr (Elsie), Willy (Earlene), Randy (Manshee) Needham, Reginald (Roach) Beaulieu, Randy (Seesh) Needham; aunts Andrea Humphrey, Joyce Fowler, Terra and Kelly Needham, Mavis and Merrilee Strong, Special Great Aunt & Uncle Nellie & Charlie Charnoski; step-mom Kim Needham; nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is proceeded in death by grandmother Frances Strong; grandfathers Melvin Strong and James Needham Sr; great-grandparents Betty and Roman Beaulieu Sr/ uncles James Needham Jr, Roman B. Jr, Frank (Mace) Beaulieu, Milli Holthusen, Magi Parkhurst, Junebug Strong and Joe Parkhurst. She will be meeting her cousins Wes Strong and Charise St. John. 

The wake will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Redby Center and continue until the service on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Fr. George Ross. Active Pallbearers will be Bryson Jourdain, Tim Lajeunesse, Brandon Strong, Gary Strong, Delwyn Hothusen Jr, Whee Charnoski, Ray Charnoski, Jim Garrigan, Ian Lussier, Shawn Kingbird, Delwyn Schoenborn, Shane Branchaud, and Brent Pemberton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lisa Lussier, Angela Kingbird, Lorelle Garrigan, Jennette Bowstring, Jessica Auginash, Amanda Jourdain, Angela Charnoski, Ashlyn Charnoski, Andrea Humphrey, Missy Seki, Autumn Parkhurst, Wesley Ann Strong, Datonnah Strong, Kayla Kingbird, Nicole Good, Cinday Lussier, Taylor Dickenson, Jerry Loud, Vestanna Cook, and the Oshkiimaajitahdah staff.
