Margaret White

Margaret Ann White, Niizhhoo Makoons “Two Bears”, age 79, travelled to the spirit world on Monday, September 25, 2023, in Bemidji, MN.

Margaret was born on August 16, 1944, in Red Lake, MN to Frank and Ennis (Lussier) Johnson. She attended school in Redby and Red Lake. As a young woman, she lived and worked in Cleveland, OH and Minneapolis before moving back to northern, MN. She was married to Peter White, Jr. in 1971, until his passing in 1974. Margaret enjoyed attending native ceremonies and embraced traditional ways. She loved to garden and enjoyed harvesting vegetables each fall to share with family and friends. She loved going to garage sales to look for things she never knew she needed! She also looked forward to trips to the casino to try her luck on the slots. Family was everything to Margaret. She had an open door policy for her children, grandchildren and anyone else who needed a place to rest, have a bite to eat or a cup of coffee.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Shannon (Derek Sr.) LaDuke, Imran (Stephanie Schindler) White, Carl (Kathleen Heisler) White; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; siblings: Joe Johnson, Charlotte Johnson, Marge Garcia; special friend, Pete Anderson; special nephew, Evan Kirkie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Those greeting her in the spirit world are her husband, Peter White, Jr. parents, Frank and Ennis Johnson; grandparents: Jack Louisa (Buckanaga) Johnson and Joseph and Margaret Lussier; siblings: Franklin, Pat, Randy, James, and Gregory Johnson; and her son, Franklin White.

The wake will begin at 7 PM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the Redby Community Center in Redby, MN and continue until the ceremony at Noon on Friday, September 29, 2023. Allen Hardy will be the spiritual leader. Active casketbearers will be: Jack Johnson, Matt Thorshein, Randy Johnson, Jr., Jeff Roy, Dwight Johnson, Charles, Johnson, Terry Lussier, Sr., Jerry Lussier, Howard Stately. Honorary casketbearers will be: Elaine Johnson, Eunice Lightfeather, Heather Fadness, Kathleen Heisler, Stephanie Schindler, Nicole Roy, Beth Roy, Sue Roy, Annie Johnson, Bobbi Johnson, Patsy Johnson, Ellie Johnson, Trina Johnson and Cheryl Schindler. Burial will be at Fox Point Cemetery near Redby, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
