Marie Lynn Spears

Marie Lynn Spears, Anaang, Eagle Clan, age 39, of Ponemah, MN, began her journey to the spirit world on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Fargo, ND.

Marie was born on May 17, 1987, in Bemidji, MN to Vicky Spears.  She graduated from Red Lake High School in 2005 and went on to attend Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kansas. After college, she moved to Tulsa, OK for a few years before returning home to Ponemah. She worked at New Beginnings and at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls at the hotel front desk until she got sick. Marie lived with her grandma, Virginia, loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and was always willing to lend a hand and help out. She adored her “fur babies”, Baby and Sissy. She was an avid Vikings fan and enjoyed going to the movies, trying her luck at the casino and going for rides.

She will be lovingly remembered by her parents: Vicky Spears and Doug Jourdain; siblings: Will Kingbird, Sam Kingbird Sr, Kendrick Kingbird, Janae Kingbird, Kim Cloud, Brody Sayers; grandmother, Virginia Spears;  special mother, Billie Jo Mountain, special sister, Larrissa White; nieces and nephews: Jazmyn, Juliet, Ameriah, Amora, Kaycee, Khylia, Rhylia, Dalena, Sam Jr, Jeron, Taylor, Jayden, Jordyn, Connor, Melano, Alex, Audreyana, Dwayne, Asher, Avon, Logan, Ashton, Donte Jr, Alyssa, Rihanna, Neveah, Leilani, Alexis, Tracen; aunts: Rosetta Spears, Tonya Spears, Phyllis Kingbird, Doris Kingbird; special aunts: Linda Zeller, Tinka Bloedow; uncles: Nick Spears, Chuck White, Orville White Sr, Darrell Kingbird, Jack Kingbird; fur babies: Baby and Sissy; as well as other relatives and friends.

Those greeting her in the spirit world are her sister, Amanda Kingbird; brother, John “JD” Sayers; maternal grandparents: Audrey and Sam White; paternal grandparents: Jack and Lucille Kingbird, Ralph spears; aunt, Brenda White; uncle, Sonny Spears, cousins: Delaney Spears, Jared Spears.

A traditional wake will begin at 2PM on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service at 10AM on Sunday, June 7, 2026 with Allen Hardy as spiritual leader. Active pallbearers will be: Sam Kingbird Sr, Dru Spears, Brody Sayers, Kendrick Kingbird, Nick Spears, Will Kingbird, Keenan Norris, Robbie Charette and alternates: Victor White, Perry White, Brandon Rossbach.  Honorary pallbearers will be: Kayla Kingbird, Jayden Beaulieu, Sue Roy, Kim Cloud, Tory White, Rosetta Spears, Tonya Spears, Rhylia Spears, Khylia Spears, Jazmyn Kingbird, LeeAnn Blue, Flower White, Sam Kingbird Jr, Peggy Kingbird, Becky White, Orville White Jr, Devon Roy, Donte Spears, Scott Kingbird, Phyllis Iceman, Taylor Beaulieu, Andrew Spears, Rhiannon LaDuke, Salina Kingbird.
