Marion Rose Galvan, age 76, Ozaawi-Noozhe Makwa "Brown-Bear Woman", passed away peacefully in her home, alongside her significant other Tino and family surrounding her on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
Marion was born on July 19, 1949 to Julia Dick and James Iceman in Red Lake, MN. Marion grew up on the Red Lake Nation and later moved to her home in Minneapolis, where she began her life with Tino Martinez. Marion was a loving, caring, strong ikwe, who deeply loved her family and friends, and had a great sense of humor. She was the rock for the Beauchamp family. Her hobbies included playing bingo with friends and family, gambling and spending time with her family.
Marion is survived by her children: Jude Beauchamp, Derek (Josiah) Beauchamp, Ellen Dick, Rhonda Dick and Julio Solis; sister: Julie Dick; special niece: Julia Dick; grandchildren: Tracy (Fawn) Beauchamp, Alejandra Esquivel, Janelle, Kim, and many more that loved her dearly; and her significant other-husband: Tino Martinez.
She is preceded in death by her son: Shane Beauchamp; daughter: Kimberly Dick; grandchildren: Roberto Gomez, Juve Beauchamp and Danielle Beauchamp; sisters: Deanna Dick, Ellen, Rose and Patricia; brother: John (Zhegog) Dick; mother: Julia Dick; father: James Iceman; and grandparents: Jane and George Martin.
A wake will begin at 2 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Minneapolis Indian Women’s Resource Center and will continue at 7 PM on Friday, July 25, 2025 at the Red Lake Community Center until the funeral at 3 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Active Pallbearers will be Danny Beauchamp, Julio Solis, Derek Beauchamp, John John, Evan Dick and Tracy Beauchamp. Honorary Pallbearers will be her children, grandchildren and close family.
