Mark Green Obituary

Mark Daniel Green “Chi Binesii” was born on Tuesday, November 6, 1984 in Minneapolis, MN to Richard Mark Green Sr. and Carmen Annette Green (Graves). His birth brought such joy to the young couple, who were married not long after his arrival. Mark was raised in south Minneapolis. He enjoyed playing “B-Ball” with his dad as a baby. He was so loved by his sisters Deanna & Shannon and older brother little Rick “Boo Boo” Green Jr. He was such a sweet little boy, loved by his whole family, especially his grandmothers Thelberta and Janice.

As a toddler, he tragically lost his father. This had a deep impact on his upbringing being without his beloved father. His mother Carmen did the very best she could to provide everything her children needed as they got older. His dad's absence is something we all knew he carried in his heart his whole life.

Mark attended school in Saint Anthony area schools and was involved in local baseball teams, As a teenager, he spent a lot of time at his grandmother Thelberta’s home in the East Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis. There, he made friends with all the young men in the neighborhood. His family would always tease him because his group of friends were very multicultural. He made a great group of friends who he considered family for the remainder of his life.

He played basketball and participated in many tournaments in the area with his crew. They called their team the “Killa Beez” and often doted on being “East Phillips Finest.” He was close to his childhood friends and looked up to his uncle Danny Graves. He loved to hang out with his homies and meet new young ladies when they spent time out in the hood. Many girls were drawn to Mark, as he carried the spirit of a loving, yet down to earth young man.

Mark welcomed his first child, Devany Ava Green in November 2006. He instantly was a very loving and involved father, which was apparent as he took on the sole responsibility for caring for his daughter who is now 16 years old. He also had a daughter Ogimaakwe in 2008, and most recently, his new baby Delaney Annette Green with girlfriend Miranda Mayo was born in early 2023, whom he loved with all his heart. He also loved his stepdaughter Delilah and cared for her, just as his dad selflessly cared for his stepdaughters.

He spent time in the north woods learning to harvest wild rice with friends he hung out with near the Leech Lake reservation. He loved his Ojibwe traditional ways and was always eager to learn more to enhance his knowledge. Mark was a quiet, yet charismatic young man with so much knowledge of the natural world and metaphysical wisdom. His mind was always expanding, and he would share that with his family, as he loved his family so very much. He loved funny movies and could always cheer up his family with his quick wit and natural charm. This loss is very devastating to all those who knew and loved him because of all the fun memories we have with this beautiful human being.

He is survived by his daughters Devany, Ogimaakwe, Delilah, Delaney, his sisters Deanna StandingCloud (Breanna, Zitlali, Nigozis, Ziigwan & Benny) Shannon Green (Kota, Ava, & Indigo) his brother Richard Green Jr. (Addison, Richard III, Brynn, & Brielle) And his grandmother Thelberta Lussier (Tib). He also had a special connection to his cousin/sister Kristina Graves (Lola & Maliyah) , countless aunties, uncles, cousins, and many friends who adored him.

He is preceded in death by his father Richard Green Sr., his mother Carmen Green, his grandmother Janice Goodthunder, his auntie Kay Graves, uncle Bush Graves, uncle Kevin Graves. He was welcomed into the Spirit World by both of his parents & they guided him to the Happy Hunting Grounds where he will watch over all of those who loved him. We love you Markie D!
