Marvin Wayne Head, age 74, began his journey to the spirit world on November 2, 2025 in Duluth, MN.
Marvin was born on February 5, 1951 to Nathan and Rose (McKenzie) Head Jr. in Red Lake, MN. Marvin grew up in Red Lake with his large family at the Head family home across from Heart Lake. He attended St. Mary’s Mission School in Red Lake and he graduated from Red Lake High School in 1969. Marvin enjoyed playing sports, and during High School he played both basketball and football. Marvin travelled throughout the country working as a lineman for an electrical company installing poles and wire. He also worked on an Alaskan fishing boat in the Bering Sea. When he returned to Red Lake, Marvin worked as a counselor at the Red Lake Group Home, and at Red Lake Gaming in the human resources department. Marvin was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ricing. He loved the Vikings. Marvin was the funniest guy you would ever meet and he had a quick wit. Everyone who knew Marvin has funny stories about him. Marvin enjoyed playing cards and cribbage with his family and friends.
Marvin is survived by his sons: Darin Head, Nathan Head, Daniel Jourdain and Chad Head; daughters: Grace Head and Heather Graves; sisters: Karen Neadeau, Mary Head and Ramona (Joe) Plumer; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Rose; daughter: Kimberly McGee; granddaughter: Marissa Head; sisters: Glendoris Smith, Beverly Head, Gertrude Head, Barbara Dolson, and Celeste Beaulieu; and brothers: Nathan Head III, Roger Head and Roderick Head.
A wake will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Old Red Lake Center and will continue until the service at 1 PM on Friday, November 7, 2025. The active pallbearers will be Donald Good, Mikey Mouse Good, Keith Head, Herman Fairbanks, and Duane Fairbanks and Charles Dolson. The honorary pallbearers will be Joe Plumer, David Head, Daniel Neadeau, Desi Wilson, Connie Neadeau, and Trish Neadeau. Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving Northern Minnesota.
