Mary J Rushman

Mary J. Rushman, age 61, of the Bear Clan, of Cass Lake, MN, began her journey to the spirit world on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in Fargo, ND.

Mary was born on July 26, 1963, in Cass Lake, MN to Izetta Garbow and Henry Rushman. She loved crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp and liked to try her luck on the Caveman Keno and Pompeii machines at the casinos. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching international cooking shows as well as Darrman on Youtube and Vid Chronicles. Mary appreciated nature and enjoyed picking boughs and pinecones in her younger years. Mary enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the sunshine for her soul and medicine for her mind.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Marilyn (Allison) Wakonabo, Grace (Justin) Wakonabo, Henry (Lisa) Wakonabo, Jamie Wakonabo, Roger (Alisha) Wakonabo, Candace (Landon) Wakonabo, Lorena Wakonabo, LaVonne (Derek) Cloud, special granddaughter/ adopted daughter, Deeondra Diver; special grandson, Lawrence Krumrey III; siblings: Donna Johnson, Melvina Rushman, Roland Wilson, Robert “Moe” (Elsie) Rushman; 41 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, fur babies: Pebbles and Poopsi; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Those greeting Mary are her parents; daughter, Rosaland Rushman; grandchildren: Gustovi Loyal Phonseya, Baby King Wakonabo; siblings: Debra Rushman, Henry “Sonny” Rushman and a sibling in infancy; nephews: Delbert Rushman, Daniel Rushman; nieces: Regina Rushman, Cheyenne Rushman, Crystal Stickney; father of her children and good friend, Hank Wakonabo; cousins: Dennis Dean Garbow, Carol Garbow, Melvin Durant, Louise Durant, Joyce Durant, Lenny Oberg; as well as other relatives.

A traditional wake will begin at 5PM on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the Inger Community Center in Inger and continue until the service at 10AM on Monday, March 10, 2025 with Mike Needham as spiritual leader. Pallbearers will be: John Kingbird, Zach Rushman, Cody Rushman, Craig Cloud, Aaron Wilson, Landon Kingbird and alternates: Giizis Harrison and Robert White. Burial will be at the Inger Cemetery in Inger. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service.
