Maurice Frederick Clark, age 95, began his journey to the spirit world on Monday, July 15, 2024 in Bagley, Minnesota. He was born on September 23, 1928, to Stella Webster and William Joseph Clark in Odanah, Wisconsin.
Maurice graduated from Red Lake High School in 1947 and furthered his education at Saint Cloud University, while he worked on the outside as a farmhand for many farmers in that area. He joined the US Army and served years during the Korean War. He returned and lived outside Chicago, where he was a freight traffic analyst for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, from which he retired. He then returned to Minnesota and worked at the Palace Bingo Casino on Leech Lake Reservation and at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls. He was a very active walker and enthusiast for all sports. He was a boxer in his youth and became a commissioner for boxing in Red Lake. He enjoyed socializing with his coffee buddies in the morning and loved watching CNN. Maurice stood tall and proud and was an independent man who, with many health issues, including cancer, never complained and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed by many.
Maurice is survived by his brother David (Tiana) Clark; sister-in-law Vivian Clark; special niece Sissie Clark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father William Clark; mother Stella Webster; brothers Oliver Clark Sr, Francis Clark, Vernon Clark Sr and Andy Clark; sisters Donna Clark, Delia Clark and Geraldine Hart; and several nephews and nieces.
A wake will begin at 3 PM on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Redby Community Center and continue until the service on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 12 Noon with Fr. George Ross.
