Melodie Joy Strong - “Nichiiwad ikwe” - Stormy (Storm woman) 58, of Redby, MN, died on Tuesday December 3, 2024, at her home in Redby, MN.

 She was born October 19, 1966, in Red Lake, MN, the daughter of Melvin and Frances (Bagley) Strong Sr. of Redby, MN. She worked at various places within the Red Lake Nation, retiring from the Red Lake Fisheries after over ten years of employment. She enjoyed having her Natty Lites, going to the casino, bar bingo with her girls and evening cruises to enjoy the sunset.

She is survived by her special friend of 18 years, Mike Church; her children: Maelyn (Jennette) Strong, Madonna (David) Strong, Matthew (Jerene) Strong; her special daughters: Jennette Bowstring, Datonnah Strong; her special niece, Missy Seki; special nephew, Brandon Strong; her siblings: Melvin (Yvonne) Strong Jr., Rex (Elsie) Strong Sr., Willy (Earlene) Strong, Mavis Strong, Marilee “Buddha” (Rick) Strong; her grandchildren: Bryson, Matthew Jr., Michael, Deontre, Harmony, Aiden, Landon, Davion, Alex, Davayah, David III, Leia, Amiyah, Zachary, her special adopted children Anthony “Bomber” King, Jericho Redeagle, and Even Redeagle; close friend, Shelly Chaboyea.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Frances Strong; her daughter, Maloree Strong; her sisters: Millie (Sunny) Holthusen, Margaret (Joe) Parkhurst, Marilyn “Junebug” Strong; her nephew, Wesley Strong; her niece, Marnelle Strong; her special brothers: Harvey Strong Jr. and Raymond “Burr” Strong; and her special niece Marnelle Strong.

The wake will begin at Noon on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Redby Community Center in Redby and continue until the service at Noon on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 with Father George Ross officiating.  Honorary casket bearers will be: Jennette Bowstring, Nicole Brun, Becky Cook, Jean Donnell, Herman Donnell, Troy Gillman, Jan Lajeunesse, Mary Omen, George Parkhurst, Amber Parkhurst, Ronald Perkins, Jan Roberts, Michael David Seki Sr., Doris Strong, Corey Donnell. Active casket bearers will be: Delwyn Holthusen Jr., Tim Lajeunesse, Brent Pemberton, Joe Parkhurst, Brandon Strong, Gary Strong, Martell Strong, Rex “Otis” Strong Jr., Barry Oakgrove Sr., Richard Roy. Burial will take place at the Episcopal Cemetery in Redby at a later date. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
