Mikayla Isis Butcher

Mikayla Isis Butcher graced this earth on August 10, 2002, born in Bemidji, Minnesota, mothered by Miranda Butcher & father Jason Dunn. Mikayla made her journey home tragically on March 15, 2025.

Mikayla Butcher was a Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe member with family ties in Cass Lake, Onigum & Old Agency She had tribal ties as far as Kansas. Mikayla attended Walker School from grade school to high school. Unforeseen events prevented her from graduating, but before her passing, she was working toward obtaining her diploma, all while working and helping take care of her nieces & nephews, who all loved her dearly, along with her older sister. Even though she was young and didn't have kids of her own, her love for her babies was nothing short of a mother’s love. In her spare time, she loved doing art & crafts with her nieces & nephews, taking them to parks and attending their games. She loved going on nature walks & adventures & enjoyed beautiful sunsets at the lakeside. She enjoyed hanging with her friends she grew up with and was also an avid music consumer; she loved all types of it, but kept anxiety by sleepy hallow on repeat. Mikayla was a 'shy rez girl' but ask those closest to her they'll tell you her love was real for those she cared for. She would help anybody with anything, no questions asked. She was truly a beautiful and irreplaceable spirit that'll be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Mikayla was proceeded in death by her Grandmother Lorraine Butcher, Grandfather Daniel Masqua, Mother Miranda Butcher, Aunty Jolaine Bigbear, & her older sister Leticia Rodriguez, who she all missed dearly.

She leaves behind her siblings Delores "Lola" Rodriguez, her handsome Brother Luiz Delarosa, Sister Alexandra Butcher, Sister Tyra Dunn & Brother Tyrell Jackson, close Cousin Carol Mae, her nieces & nephews, who were her world and many close relatives and friends, and the Cloud family.

A wake will begin at 3 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2025 at the Onigum Community Center and continue until the service at 12 PM on Friday, March, 2025 with Reverend Bill Butcher. Active Pallbearers will be Luiz Delarosa, Jason Dunn, Kyle Butcher, Brawdy Sayers, Joseph Norton, Beau Agard, Tyrell Jackson and Areecio Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alexis Agard, Adrianna White, Tyra Dunn, Tyarra Jackson, Kylie Dunn, Jaylee Dunn, Amanda Dunn, Kendra Cloud and Pernell Reese. Burial will be at the Episcopal Cemetery in Old Agency.  Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
