Myron "Johnny Boy" Barrett

Myron “Johnny Boy” Barrett, Makwa Clan journeyed to the spirit world on July 30, 2026 surrounded by family.

Myron was born on December 4, 1945 to the late Myron “Slim” and Laura Barrett. He married the love of his life, Carol, on November 15, 1969 and their love was 1 of a kind. They had two children, Jay and Tessie. Throughout the years they loved and raised many children as their own. He was a Marine who served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. In his lifetime, he was a snowmobile racer, logger, fisherman, EMT and worked with the youth as a prevention specialist.

Myron is survived by his children Jay (Lisa) Barrett and Tessie Barrett; grandsons Bradley Barrett, Cedric “Slim” Barrett, James Johnson, Destin Storm Cloud Barrett, Bear Barrett, Treyson Barrett and Daunte “Biibii” Barrett; granddaughters Sophie and Khloe Barrett; sibling Laura “Pruney” Schussman; adopted children Megan, Kristen and Erica Hart, Margery Hawk, April Barrett, Shelda Tom, Rachel King, Lorraine GoodNature and C.L. GoodNature.

Greeting him are his forever loving wife Carol; his parents, brother Joseph “JoeB” Barrett; grandson Michael Kingbird; granddaughter Stormie Graves; aunts, uncles and relatives.

A wake will begin at 1 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club and will continue until the funeral at 10 AM on Monday, August 3, 2026 with Spiritual Leader Mike Needham. Active Pallbearers will be all his grandsons. Alternates will be all his nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Three-Star Warrior Society, K-N Mustang Families, Family & Friends, All his children and grandchildren he gained and loved as his own. Burial will be at the Spears Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving Northern Minnesota.
