Orian Lynn Dunning, age 77, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Fargo, North Dakota.
Orian was born on December 1, 1947 to Ore Lynn Dunning and Gladys (Vezina) Dunning in Cass Lake, MN. He was born and raised in Cass Lake and spent time with his grandmother in Lengby, MN. He attended school in Cass Lake and worked for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, contracted with US Forestry, while owning his own construction business, doing logging, construction and heavy equipment. He later retired from Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Palace Bingo and Casino. Orian enjoyed retirement, spending time with people and on his hobbies. He loved his family and friends.
Orian is survived by sisters: Marlene Anderson and Phyllis Brogger; special niece: Rachelle Perkes; nephew: Matthew Guthrie; friends: Charlie Greenside, Jim Richards and Jerry Smith; many nieces, nephews and extended family; and his K-9 Buddy Bob.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Gladys (Vezina) Dunning and Ore “Lynn” Dunning; brother: Harry Dunning; sisters: Shirley Conner and Bonnie Edmond.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the White Earth Community Center in Cass Lake, MN. Following the Celebration of Life, a graveside ceremony will be held at 1 PM at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Northern Minnesota.
