Patrick James Pierre

Patrick James Pierre, Maaiingan “Wolf” of the Eagle Clan, age 80, began his journey to the spirit world on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Red Lake, MN.

Patrick was born on May 17, 1944, in Red Lake, MN to Ida Gertrude (Green) and Joseph Pierre. Patrick began working in law enforcement in the late 1970’s, in a career that spanned over five decades. He worked as a conservation officer for 33 years as well as for Red Lake Law Enforcement and the Tribal College, retiring at 80 years of age.

Patrick enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a sports enthusiast who especially enjoyed cheering on women’s softball and basketball. Patrick was a very social person who enjoyed his many friendships over the years. He loved being a grandpa, spending as much time with them as possible. He opened his home and heart to many children over the years and cherished them as his own. He will be lovingly remembered for his infectious laugh, a gruff exterior with a kind heart.

He is survived by his children: Patricia Sigana, Darrell (April Hill) Pierre, Jennifer  Hart (Robin May), Geoffrey (Charlene Andersen) Pierre, Patrick (Arlene) Green, Janis Hart; grandchildren: Deon, Joyce, Jason, Tyrone, Oran, Lloyd, Chante, Nazarene, Denali, Justice, Nyshia, Peyton, Phoenix, Angela, Dylan, Patrick, Angelo, Antonio; great-grandchildren: Ashton, Jayde, Jennifer, Mason, Kyson; sister, Kathy Pierre; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Those greeting him in the spirit world are his parents; children: Daisy Green, Christal Pierre, Patrick Pierre Jr, Laura Pierre; adopted son: Shannon “Opie” Barron; siblings: Michael Pierre and Delores “Tiny” Smith; as well as many other relatives.

A wake will begin at 1PM on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Old Little Rock Center and continue until the service at 11AM on Sunday, March 30, 2025 with Willie Strong and Tom Pollock officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Pat Graves, Marvin Greene, Antonio Gayton, Angelo Hart, Denali Hart, Justice Pierre, Peyton Pierre Lawrence Kingbird, Deon Pierre, Chucky Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be: Red Lake Department of Public Safety, Red Lake Conservation, Red Lake Department of Natural Resources, MARS Clinic and Red Lake Dispatch.
