Raymond G. Smith, Sr.

Raymond G. Smith, Sr., age 85, of Red Lake, MN, travelled to the spirit world on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

Raymond was born on June 19, 1936, in Red Lake, MN, to Joseph and Margaret (Stan) Smith, Sr. He worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis for many years before returning to Red Lake where he worked at the Jourdain-Perpich Nursing Home and at the E.M.P.

Raymond enjoyed attending pow wows and loved listening to pow wow music. He liked the slots and playing Bingo at the casino. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Joseph (Jan) Smith; sons: Ray Smith, Jr., and Mike Smith, Sr. as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith; brothers: Maurice “Alvin” “Tucahash” Smith, Bobby Smith, Allen “Kokomo” Smith; his daughter, Diane Beaulieu and sons: Joe Smith and Duane Smith.

The wake will begin at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Red Lake Center and continue until the service on Sunday, March 20, 2022. The Spiritual leader will be Allen Hardy. Active casketbearers will be: Anthony Smith, Trevor Smith, Michael Smith, Jr., Raymond Stately, Dustin Stately, Christopher Stately, Lawrence Lussier and Darrell Goodman. Honorary casketbearers will be: Michelle Beaulieu, Marie Beaulieu, Danielle Goodman, Esther Goodman, Miranda Smith, Marybeth May, Tammi Stately and Roxann Anoka.  Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake.
