Robert Dean Blank

Robert Dean Blank, aged 85, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Robert (Bob) was born on December 10, 1939, to Cecil and Marie Blank in Kanawha, Iowa. He grew up near Bemidji, MN and attended Carr Lake School, where he first met his future wife.  Robert married Lorene Strand on June 16, 1962. They had three children, Larry, Paul and Roger.  Robert graduated from Bemidji State University and obtained his Master’s Degree from St. Cloud State University. He spent most of his career as a High School Biology Educator in Eveleth, MN.

Bob was highly devoted to raising a family with strict moral values and work ethics. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren.  Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and caring for wildlife.  He was also recognized as a master gardener.  He was very dedicated to his students and their success in life.  Many students stayed in touch with him throughout the years.  He enjoyed his later years back on Carr Lake, where he grew up. 

Robert is survived by his wife: Lorene Blank; children: Larry (Monsherra) Blank, Paul (Barb) Blank and Roger (Jill) Blank; sister: Arlene Tangborn; grandchildren: Caleb (Jessica), Kiley and Christian Blank; Colton, Walker, Emma and Madi Blank; Laramie Blank; step-grandchildren: Dylan Eisenbarth, Charlie Berry, Ajiah and Nohe Odanga; and great grandchild, Levi Blank.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Cecil and Marie Blank; and siblings: Merle Blank, Joe Blank, Esther Vorderbruggen and Evelyn Cregar.

We are deeply saddened by this loss, but we hold true the promises of our Savior Jesus Christ.

A gathering of friends and family will start at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 24, 2025 and continue until the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, followed by lunch at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2508 Washington Ave SE, Bemidji, MN. Pastor Jeremiah Holst will officiate.
