Robert Wayne Mitchell

Robert Wayne Mitchell, 73, of Federal Dam, Minnesota, passed away at Essentia Homestead Nursing Home, Deer River, MN on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Robert, “Uncle Bobby” as he was known, was born in Cass Lake, Minnesota, on July 10, 1948, to Bert and Mary (Burnette) Mitchell. He was raised in the Remer area and attended Remer schools. He went to work as a logger in logging camps way up north and did this for many years. Uncle Bobby loved being in the woods, fishing being his favorite sport. Just the mention of Uncle Bobby brings smiles to the faces of his cousins. He was lots of fun and loved horsing around with his nephews and cracking jokes. He loved to gamble and had certain casino games he loved to play. He enjoyed playing cards, watching old movies, and smoking weed. Robert was father to two sons and three daughters. They and his grandchildren very special to his heart.

Welcoming Robert to the spirit world are the love of his life Leslie Ann Buffalo; sons Robert Mitchell Jr (Little Bobby) and Brian Buffalo; daughter Barbara “BJ” Buffalo; brothers Kenn (Sharon), Perry, Sam (Ruby), George, Roger, Donald and Benjamin Mitchell; nephew William “BJ” Drumbeater; and his parents Bert and Mary Mitchell.

 Left behind to cherish his memory are his cousins Marilyn Drumbeater and Roxanne Drumbeater; daughters Katie and Tina Buffalo; granddaughters Marlene, Julia and Michelle Buffalo; nephews George ‘Buck’ Mitchell, Miles Anderson, Jerome Anderson, Jeremy Drumbeater, Robert Anderson, and David (Rita) Mitchell; and nieces Chanell Drumbeater (Anthony Kitchen), Summer Mitchell, Regina Mitchell, and Julia Mitchell.

A wake for Robert will begin Friday, November 26, 2021, at 2:00pm, at the Leech Lake Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN, and will continue until the service on Saturday November 27, 2021, at 5:00pm. Pallbearers will be Miles Anderson, Jerome Anderson, Robert Anderson, Jeremy Drumbeater, Jerome Mitchell and Anthony Kitchen. Honorary pallbearers will be George ‘Buck’ Mitchell, Marlene Buffalo, Julia Buffalo, Michelle Buffalo, and Jerome Mitchell. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
