Robert G. “Mino”  Anderson, age 71, began his journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in Minneapolis, MN.

Robert Anderson Sr. “Mino” was born in Red Lake, MN to Charles and Eliza (May) Anderson. Mino attended Red Lake Elementary and High Schools. He was employed by Indian Action, Red Lake Forestry and Red Lake Builders. He retired in 1997 due to injuries.

Mino was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, wildricing. He loved to be in the backroads to gather birch bark and diamond willow for his craft projects. Mino was a car enthusiast, working on his and his friend’s vehicles. Mino was known by many and was everyone’s favorite uncle.  Everyone had a “Mino” story. He was very proud of his children and granddaughter.

Mino is preceded in death by his parents; siblings:  Herbert “Zemo” May, Melvin Gwii-Wiz May Sr., Ronald Anderson, Lucille Anderson and Leslie Anderson.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Terin Cobenais; son, Robert Anderson Jr., granddaughter, Rakiah Cobenais; life-long partner, Rochelle Cobenais; brothers: Roy Anderson, Robert C. “Whitey” Anderson; sister, Shirley Anderson Willey, and many nieces and nephews.

The  wake will begin at 2PM on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the New Red Lake Community Center and continue until the service at 2PM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Active pallbearers will be: Austin Cook, Todd Anderson, John Cobenais Jr., Jerald Cobenais, Will May, John Jourdain. Honorary pallbearers will be: Calvin Beaulieu, Sam Roy, Rob May, John Cobenais Sr., Robert “Whitey” Anderson, Floyd Jourdain, Patrick Brun, Pam May and Red Lake MARS Program. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN (whisperingpinesnorth.com).
