Roberta "Berta" A. Greenleaf

Roberta Ann “Berta” Greenleaf, age 72, of the Bear Clan, from Ponemah, MN travelled to the spirit world on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in Red Lake, MN.

Roberta was born on January 14, 1952 in Red Lake, MN to Lucy (Stillday) and Warren Greenleaf. Berta worked at the ENP in Ponemah and at the Headstart and Elementary School in Ponemah. She also worked on the clean up crew at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls. Berta enjoyed going to casinos. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and talking on the phone with her sons, Lester and Mitchell. She enjoyed watching movies, listening to pow wow music and being on Facebook. She loved when family and friends came to visit her. She was such a loving and caring woman and would help others if she could in any way. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

When Berta begins her journey to the spirit world she will be welcomed by her parents, Warren and Lucy Lillian Greenleaf; two sons: Alden and Arlen Greenleaf; grandson, Dana Cobenais; two brothers: Denny Greenleaf and Francis Stillday; three sisters: Beverly Cloud, Lucille Wilson and Judtih Greenleaf; numerous uncles, aunties, nephews and nieces.

Bert’s loved ones she leaves behind are: her long time companion of 52 years, Fred Jones Jr., three sons: Lester Greenleaf of Faribault, MN, Mitchell Greenleaf of St. Peter, MN, and Dwight Greenleaf of Ponemah; one daughter, Freida Greenleaf of Ponemah; two special daughters she raised as her own: Hester Bialke of Bemidji, MN and Shantell Jones of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren: Brenden Greenleaf, Grantt (Megan) Greenleaf, Robert Cobenais Jr. and KeSheenah Greenleaf; seven great grandchildren; two brothers: Gary Greenleaf of Mobridge, SD and Darrell Greenleaf of Kelliher, MN; one sister, Linda Greenleaf of Bemidji; and her loving sisters-in-law: Jessie, Sharon and Vickie Jones; brother-in-law, Myron (Pearl) Jones Sr.; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

A traditional wake will begin at 1PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service on Monday, June 3, 2024 with Zac Earley and Ty Stately as spiritual leaders. Active pallbearers will be: Grantt Greenleaf, Robert Cobenais Jr., Kenton Stillday, Kyle Stillday, Darcy Benais, Arlen Johnson, Andrew Cloud, Gerard Cloud, Nick Jones and Aaron Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be: Zac Earley, Ty Stately, Carol Spears, Dolly Northbird, Patrick Northbird, Gail Stillday, Karla French, Donna Greenleaf, Vance Benais, Darcy Benais Jr., Tami Cloud, Jolene Cloud, Robin Jones and Elsie Jones.  Burial will be at the Greenleaf Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
