Robin Lee Hanson

Robin “Fatman” Hanson, age 52, began his journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in Red Lake (Jail) MN. He was born to Cookie Hanson and Boy Rainey on June 2, 1972, one of two boys (twins) born that day, in Minneapolis, MN.

Robin was raised in Minneapolis and Red Lake, MN, and attended school at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. His younger years were spent riding horses and exploring his reservation, Red Lake Indian Reservation. He met his loving wife, Betty, at the age of 18 years in Minneapolis in 1990. He married his wife, Betty, in 1996 and they were together for over 35 years before his untimely death in 2025. They raised their children Eric, Robin, Kenneth, Angel, and granddaughter Kendra, along with nieces and nephews in Minneapolis, Bemidji and Red Lake.

Robin is preceded in death by his parents: Doreene “Cookie” Hanson and Kenneth “Boy” Rainey; brothers: Robert “Skinnyman” Hanson, Marcel Rainey and Gary Hanson; sister: Sherry Hanson; nephew: Randy Lee Hanson; niece: Mercedes Rainey; grandson: Robin Lee Lussier Jr; beloved mother-in-law: Clara “Unei” Smith; and other loving family members: uncles, aunties and cousins.

He leaves behind to mourn his soul: his loving wife: Betty “Gram” Hanson; beloved daughter: Angel Marie Powers; beloved sons: Eric Lee Guardipee; Robin “Rachet” Lussier Sr and Kenneth Lee Hanson; special nephew: Shawn Rainey; beloved granddaughters: Kendra Leigh Hanson, Joel Hanson, Karley Hanson, Gretchen Guardipee and Natalie Guardipee; beloved grandsons: Kenyan “Kenny Jr” Hanson, Jaden “Chubby Man” Hanson and Kenneth Lee Hanson Jr; his beloved sister: Karen Hanson; and other family members: aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A wake will begin at 2 PM on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at New Red Lake Center and will continue until the service on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Active Pallbearers will be Marcus Garcia, Marcello Rainey, Kenneth Hanson, Andrew Power, Hunter Parker, Misun Parker, Jerell Schoenborn, Tyrese Desjarlait, Evan Graves, Tyrell Schoenborn, Travis Varney Sr, Diondre Statley, Dyllon Johns, Haydon Spears, Dana Rainey, Ethan Rainey, Steven Rainey Jr and Santee Howard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Angel Marie Power, Kendra Leigh Hanson, Jennifer Hanson, Alecia Cook, Arionna Roberts, Karen Hanson, Brittany Sigana, Robert Hanson Jr, Kyrie May, Gary Lee Hanson, Kareena Rainey, Breanna Rainey, Stephanie Rainey, Aiden Samiento, Staar Rainey, Marcell Loud and Jose Garcia. Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, MN.
