Ronald Wayne McKenzie, of the Eagle Clan, age 59, began his journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 in Fargo, ND.
Ronald was born on September 2, 1965 in Red Lake, MN to Clem and Roberta (Head) McKenzie. Ron grew up and attended school in Red Lake. He loved to fish and worked on the family fish camp. He loved music and attending concerts and was recently given his own vinyl phonograph that he was so proud of. He loved to run in his younger years and later to golf. He was very social and loved going to the casino. He was always willing to help people. He loved his nieces and nephews and his gal pals and he loved spending time with his family and friends who became family. He was so proud of completing 8 months of sobriety, as was everyone who knew him. Most recently, he was working at the Red Lake Buffalo Ranch, which, in his honor, will be known as the Ron McKenzie Buffalo Ranch.
Ronald is survived by his brother: Gerald Spears; sisters: Cherilyn Spears, Darilyn Spears, Faye King and Brenda Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Clem and Roberta (Head) McKenzie; maternal grandparents: Selam and Eliza Head; paternal grandparents: Linda Sullivan and William McKenzie; sister: Marilyn Beaulieu; brothers: William McKenzie and Roderick McKenzie; nephew: Robert Beaulieu JR; Special Niece: Brittany Beaulieu Cobenais; cousins: Michael Head, Tix Head, Richard McKenzie and Roman Beaulieu Jr; aunt: Betty Beaulieu; and uncles: Ronald Head and Robert Head.
A wake will begin at 12 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the Old Red Lake Center and continue until the service at 2 PM on Monday, January 6, 2025 with Officiant Willie Strong. Active Pallbearers will be Fred Auginash, James Kingbird, Allen Jourdain, Adrian May, Brandon Neadeau and Robin Auginash. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darilyn Spears family, Gerald Spears family, Cherilyn Spears family, George, Gary, Jason & Austin Head, Charlie & Nellie Charnoski family, Bobbi Jo Beaulieu & John Cobenais family, Linden & Robbie Beaulieu III family, Ramona Needham family, John Beaulieu family, Faye King family, Evelyn, Bill & Peter McKenzie family, Brenda Smith, Connie & Linda McKenzie, Joe Plumer family, David Cobenais family, Lee & JoAnn Spears, Sherilyn Neadeau family, Adele Zephier family, Erika Baily-Johnson family, Georgia & Francis Downwind family and all his friends who became family. Interment will follow at a later date at the Ron McKenzie Buffalo Ranch.
