Ronald J. Neppl was born in Minneapolis on February 5, 1932, and died at age 93 at Green Pine Acres in Menahga, MN on October 1, 2025.
Preceded in death by his mother Gabrielle, aunt Jo, sister Pam, brother Gene, son Michael, niece Gail, and nephew Tim.
Survived by his wife Leslie, sister Joan Green, and five children—Rita Gibbons, Ronnie Jo Perzel (Dan), Tony (Lisa), Robin Behrendt, Roxie Spangler—fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Ron was a hard worker, an accomplished artist, and made everyone feel special when he visited. He served in the 508th airborne in Korea and worked as a tool maker at Ford Motor Company. After his retirement in 1992 he lived in Green Valley, AZ and Akeley, MN. He enjoyed reading, traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting, casino dealing, painting, and the tango. He loved and was loved by many. We will miss him.
Ron’s life will be celebrated in a service at First Lutheran Church, 10 Pleasant Ave SE, Akeley, MN 56433 on Nov. 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm, followed by a Military Honor Guard. A gathering in celebration of his life will follow at the Red River Event Center, 31075 MN-34 in Akeley from 2-5 pm.
