Roy Joseph DeFoe, Jr.

Roy Joseph DeFoe, Jr. “Waasekamig Gaabaw” age 61, of Cloquet, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.

Roy was born October 17, 1957, in Cloquet, to Roy Joseph Defoe, Sr. and Geraldine (Dufault) Defoe.  He grew up and attended school in Cloquet. He most recently worked as a Recovery Technician for the Fond du Lac Archaeology program. 

Roy will be greatly missed by his sons, Alexander LaFave (Winona Urrutia), Andrew DeFoe, Sr. Jason O’Leary ; daughters, Leah DeFoe (Cody Walker) and Alyssa DeFoe (Dylan Magnay); grandchildren, Antonio Abramowski, Zen Walker, Antwan, Veronica, Andrew Jr., Cailyn, Cianna, and Anthony; and brother, Garret Defoe.  Roy was preceded in death by Robin LaFave, his mother and father, and granddaughter Alyceanna Magney.

A traditional wake will begin Friday, July 19, at 7:00pm and will continue until the service on Saturday, July 20, at 10:00am, all at the Sawyer Center in Sawyer.  Burial will be in St. Mary and Joseph’s Cemetery, Sawyer. 

Services are being handled by Souder-Handevidt Funeral and Cremation Services of Cloquet.
