Russell G. Perkins, 83 years of age, passed away peacefully at home with family and friends around him early in the morning of Saturday, the 27th of May 2023.
Russ was born in January,1940 in North Hollywood, California to Curtis and Mildred Perkins, and he was the oldest of three children. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother Hugh, his former wife, Barbara Jo, his grandson Gabriel and is survived by his sister Jeanette.
Russ had a long career in finish carpentry, working at the CBS Studios in Television City, CA for over 25 years, and later built his forever home in northern Minnesota in the 1990’s.
Russ and Mary “Sue” were united in holy matrimony in October 1980.They created a large, blended and loving family with six children. Russ and Sue celebrated 42 years of marriage, enjoying more than half of that on a beautiful lake in Northern Minnesota.
By the grace of God, Russ beat throat cancer 15 years ago and is known by his family to start his day reading his Bible, often in his worn-out recliner on the sun porch. He loved praying after every church service for whoever needed prayer for whatever the need might be. He loved Jesus and he lived his life as an example to witness for Christ.
Russ is survived by his God fearing, loving and faithful wife, Sue, their 6 children, Mark (Shevonne), Suzanne (Michael), Wendy (William), Ann (Jason), Matthew (Leslie) and Paul (Cindy), 21 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter. Russ will not be forgotten as his legacy will live on, and his family knows that one day they will be reunited with him in heaven.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Gethsemane Covenant Church in Hermantown, Minnesota, where he had been a member for over 20 years.
