Ruth Arlene Wind

Ruth Arlene Wind (“Thunder Woman”, Animikiikaakwe), age 58 of Minneapolis, MN, Journeyed to the Spirit World on Monday, April 24th, 2023 at the Red Lake Hospital with family at her side.  She was born on February 2, 1965 in Minneapolis, MN, to Philomene “Mousey” Armstrong and John Wind Sr. 

Ruth loved being around family and friends as much as possible. She also loved going to the casino, watching her TV shows and coloring.  Growing up, Ruth enjoyed softball and being with friends. She went to school at Center School, Minneapolis, MN, and lived in many places, including Minneapolis, Red Lake, and Cass Lake.

Ruth was a kind and caring Daughter, Sister, Friend, Mom and Grandma. She wanted nothing more than to spend time with family and friends. Ruth cherished every person in her life and every amazing adventure she experienced.  

Ruth was preceded in death by children Crystal Stand, Bruce Armstrong and Rachel Armstrong; sister Sheryl Hill, parents John Wind Sr, and Philomene “Mousey” Armstrong; grandparents Carl Wind, Josephine Rogers, Dan Raincloud Sr and Fannie Robertson.

She is survived by children Danielle Stand, Leeann Armstrong, Shayla Wind and Tyannah Wind; 18 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandson Grayson Bruce Wahpepah; brothers John Wind Jr, Charlie Wind, Reggie Wind, Ivan Wind and Fabian Wind; sisters Marilyn Wind and Diane Fineday; Step-Mom Carol Charnoski.

The wake will begin at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Mission Community Center and continue until the 10:00 AM service on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Mission Community Center with Spiritual Leader Melvin Goodman. Active Casketbearers will be Deon Wahpepah, Daniel Wahpepah Jr, Charles Wind, Donovan Wind, John Wind Jr, Fabian Wind, Reggie Wind, and Michael Stone Jr.  Honorary Casketbearers will be Irene Weiss, Marilyn Robertson, Rae Ravensborg, Karyn Wind, Anna Wind, Marilyn Westbrook, Sharon Finn, and all her many friends and family. Burial will be at Porcupine Lane Cemetery in Mission.
