Shannon Lee Cook

Shannon Lee “Grease” Cook, age 54, travelled to the Spirit World on Saturday, September 23, 2023 in Brainerd, MN. Shannon was born on February 20, 1969 in Red Lake, MN, to Barbara Cook and Leo Downwind. She attended Henry High and Center School in Minneapolis, MN.                                        

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Shannon loved going to the casinos and spending time with her friends. She was always known as “Grease” to everyone. She was an avid pool player and always enjoyed a good game.

Shannon will be lovingly remembered by her children Leo “Jessica” Cook, Billy and Leah Cook; brothers Sheldon, David and Doug Cook; sisters Kimberly St John and Chelsa Johnson; grandkids Leo, Liana and Riley, Jaycee and Kylie Cook, Ariana Kinley, ChrisAnna and Jake; uncle Fabian “Nickel” Cook and aunt Mary Ellen Cook.

She was preceded in death by Jerell James Cook; her parents, Barb Cook and Leo Downwind; grandparents Teddi and Ida Cook, Rose and Xavier Downwind; aunts Shirley McNeal, Amelia Carson, Roberta Crowe, Ina Mae McNeal, Vi Donnell, Elaine Blanchard; uncles Hank and Donald Cook; and Downwind family.

The wake will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the New Red Lake Center and continue until the service at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023 with Father John Christianson officiating.
