Sharon Smith Obituary

Sharon Joy Smith, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in St. Louis Park, MN.

Sharon was born on July 31, 1951, in Ponsford, MN, the daughter of Lucelia Boswell and Steven Smith.  She lived there until she was 5 years old, then went to live with her siblings and Aunt Jesse Skylar in Flandreau SD. She lived there until she was 17 years old and then returned to Minnesota to find her Mother Lucelia. She then Reunited with Mom and other siblings and continued her life in Minnesota until her passing.

Sharon enjoyed Sewing Native American Dance Regalia and Ribbon skirts, she also enjoyed Spending time with family and being a mom. Sharon had a unique sense of humor, loved making people laugh. She was known for having a big heart and being how giving she was, She was kind and caring and always put the needs of others before herself. She will be Greatly Missed.

She is survived by :Thomas Leseman(Christie) Mill City, Oregon, Rachel Taylor(Terry) Bemidji MN, Crystal (Chris)Zschokke Rochester Minnesota, Billie Jo Houchins (Justin) Staples Minnesota, Sarah Alotaibi (Ahmed) Rochester Minnesota, David Smith Rochester Mn, and Alicia (Bo) Ingersoll Rochester Minnesota and Many Grandchildren. Sharon’s siblings include  Duane Conklin of Everett, WA; Ed (Sandi) Smith of Pine Point, MN;  Jan (Paul) Bohling of Aberdeen, SD; LuAnn Smith of Seabeck, WA; Richard Van Meter of Onamia, MN; and Melvin Smith of Minneapolis. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Bernard Smith in 1952 and her mother, Lucelia Grace (Boswell) Smith in 2009.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Roger Boswell, Steven Smith, Larry W. Gillman, Renee Martin, Lorelie Robinson, and Leah Olson. Grand children Haya Mahmood and Kyle Domrese, and Great Grand Daughter Anna Leigh Yeung.

The wake will begin at 4PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the White Earth Community Center and continue until the service at 11AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 and Ojibwe Singers at 7PM. Active pallbearers will be: Cody Zschokke, Avery Zschokke, Jude Chastek, Darren Yeung, David Smith and Bennett Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be: her brother, William “Bill” Schuyler, Julia Dinsmore, Marie Keller, Carla Littlewolf, Pastor Bob Kelly, Dan Kellogg, Elijah Alsarmi, Isaac Alsarmi. Burial will be at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service.
