Sheldon Iceman

Sheldon “Shel” “Hector” Iceman, Makade Maaiingan “Black Wolf”, age 46, of Bemidji, MN and of the Eagle Clan, began his journey to the spirit world on October 7, 2023, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Shel was born on December 17, 1976, at Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake, MN to Phyllis Iceman and Gregory Kingbird, Sr. He attended school in Ponemah, Wahpeton, Flandreau Indian School and Red Lake, obtaining his GED in October of 1999. Shel loved sports of all kinds and was a golden glove champion in his younger years. He liked to play basketball and video games with his friends. He enjoyed being outdoors in nature and liked taking walks in the woods. He was kindhearted, compassionate, fiercely protective of his family and loved ones and will be remembered for his heart of gold.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Shay Iceman; mother, Phyllis Iceman; brothers: Dewayne Iceman, Kelly Iceman, Sr., Elroy Iceman, Gregory Kingbird, Jr., Michael Dahl; sisters: Pam Iceman, Kristy Iceman, Shari Iceman, Candida and Lolita Rodriquez-Kingbird, Rhonda Barrett, Larissa Kingbird, Georgia White, Justine Barrett, Susie Ballott, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Those greeting him in the spirit world are his father, Gregory Kingbird, Sr; grandparents: Alma and Robert Iceman, Lillian and Kenneth Jones; brother: Dustin “Dusty” Kingbird; special nephew, Joseph “Joe” Iceman; numerous cousins, anties, uncles, nephews and nieces.

A traditional wake will begin at 2PM on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club and will continue until the service at 11AM on Thursday, October 12, 2023 with Allen Hardy as spiritual advisor. Active pallbearers will be: Kelly Iceman, Sr., Elroy Iceman, Kevin Martin, Jr., Travis Martin, Allen Cloud, Ervin “Ed” Iceman, Jr., and Derek Bluecoat. Honorary pallbearers will be: Life Source, Kiylea Iceman, Tharen Iceman, Zenaida Iceman, Amanda Iceman, Paula Iceman, Lydell Iceman, Kit Norby, Delora Iceman, Keyaylah White, Georgia White, Aiden White, Angelo White, Karen Martin and Larissa Kingbird. Burial will be at the Iceman Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
