Stanley Charles Donnell, “Makoons” (Little Bear), age 27, journeyed to the spirit world on June 3, 2026.

He was born on December 05, 1998 at the Bemidji Sanford Medical Center, the son of Michael Donnell Sr. and Elice Leanne Varney. He graduated from Red Lake High School on June 3, 2017. In his younger years, he enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, boxing and family activities. Stanley loved spending time with his family and friends, and he loved being a father to his three daughters.

Survived by his parents: Michael Donnell Sr. and Elice Leanne Varney; sisters: Devine Donnell, Mya Donnell, Ava Donnell, Lovelynn Donnell, Diamond Donnell, Marissa Wells and Genevieve Smith; brothers: Antonio Varney, KingOrlyn Donnell and Michael Donnell Jr; paternal grandparents: Evangeline and Orlyn Donnell; his children: Laila, Elicea, and Alea; numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Noreen Varney and Leroy Varney Sr; aunties: Cheryl Smith, Tanya Varney, Chanda Varney; cousins: Travis Varney Jr, Adrian Sayers Jr; uncle: Hi “Duff” Varney.

Wake services will begin on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 12pm at the Redby Community Center,

and continue until his funeral services on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 12pm. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake. Pallbearers will be: Antonio Varney, Corey Donnell, Michael Donnell Jr., KingOrlyn Donnell, Delwyn Schoenborn Jr., Dean Peterson, Chad Peterson, Gordon Sayers, Hunter Beaulieu. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Esther Sayers, Arianna Peterson, Edwina Fajardo, Chandace Johnson, Tanya Varney, Aaliyah Varney, Leriyah Varney and Tamia Varney.
