Susan Iceman Obituary

Susan “Suzee Yellow” Iceman, age 47, began her journey to the spirit world on March 22, 2024 from Red Lake IHS  with her family surrounding her.

Suzee was born January 28, 1977, to Marvin Yellow Sr. and Geraldine (Richey) Bombay. Suzee was the youngest of seven children. She attended early school years in Red Lake, then attended Circle Of Nations School in Wahpeton, ND, graduating 8th grade. Suzee returned to Minnesota and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1995. She later attended Red Lake Nation College.

Suzee was an excellent cook and had worked many jobs in the industry. One of her favorite places she worked was Bonanza Steakhouse. She met the love of her life while working in a kitchen, Floyd Iceman.  They were united marriage in an intimate summer wedding on July 26, 2015. They made their home first in Redby and later moved to Red Lake.

Suzee was a very creative artist and very passionate about forestry and conservation. She and her love, Floyd, planted thousands of trees all over the reservation. She was very proud of “her trees”.  Suzee had a strong work ethic and cleaned St. Mary’s Catholic Church every weekend. One of her last jobs was for Red Lake Housing Authority as a receptionist. Her bubbly personality greeted the public and she used her artistic talent designing holiday decorations for the office.

Greeting Suzee in the spirit world are her three sons: Floyd Jr., Bobby and Louis; her parents: Marvin Yellow Sr. and Geraldine Bombay; step-father, Samuel Bombay and adopted mother, Roberta Ann Brun; sister, Theresa McGraw; brother, Darin Yellow, as well as many aunts, uncles and her grandparents.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Floyd; children: Samantha, Carrie, Dean and Lzzy; her siblings: Marvin Yellow Jr., Marian Yellow, Donald Yellow, Melvin Yellow, Lynn Bedeau and Donald Brun; brother-in-law who helped raise her, Valerian McGraw. She was the best auntie and will be lovingly remembered by her nephews: Doug Yellow, Clarence Yellow, Gabriel Norris, Eli Norris, Makoonz Lagou; nieces: Sarah McGraw, Carmen McGraw, Valerie McGraw, Rylynn Yellow, Alicia Lyons, Aliyah Norris, Miigis Lagou, as well as many other relatives and friends. It was Suzee’s wish to be cremated and her remains scattered among her children’s resting places.

The wake will begin at 3PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the New Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake and continue until the service at 11AM on Friday, March 29, 2024 with Father John Christianson officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Doug Yellow, Corey Stately, Chase Lussier, Clarence Yellow, Marvin Yellow, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be: Nyshia Pierre, Denise Stately, Shalena Stately, Teasha Stately, Nova Harrison, Lynn Bedeau, Linda Adams, Beth Beaulieu and all her nieces.
