Susan D. Johnson

Susan D. Johnson, Mindimooyenh "Old Woman", of the Eagle Clan, age 94, of Ponemah, MN, travelled to the spirit world on Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Red Lake, MN.

Susan was born on July 5, 1929, in Ponemah, MN. She was a lifelong Ponemah resident. Over the years, Susan worked as a Community Health Aid, the schools in both Ponemah and Red Lake, as well as owning her own daycare. Susan loved attending powwows and was a traditional dancer. She loved playing cards, crossword puzzles, and looked forward to her trips to the casino to gamble and play Bingo. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed gardening.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Darlene, Darrell, Linda, Steve, Penny, Gordy, Millie, Dell; 30 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Those greeting her in the spirit world are: her husband, Harry R. Johnson Jr., mother, Madge Downfeather; daughter, Doris Seki; grandsons: Jared Johnson, Chris Schoenborn IV, Kyle Schoenborn; granddaughters: Tasha Johnson, Natasha Johnson, Kami Johnson, Jolie’Ana Cobenais, Chrissa Neadeau.

A traditional wake will begin at Noon on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Active pallbearers will be: Challenge Johnson, Derrick Seki, Clyde Perkins, Joshua Neadeau, Darnell Perkins, Tanner Glynn and alternates, Dan Perkins Jr., Anthony Johnson, Scott Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Donna Whitefeather, Joyce Brown, Connie Raincloud, Karen Neadeau, Rose Debungie, Tammy Liberty, Avanelle Greenleaf, Emmanuel Ngam; Red Lake Secondary Complex Staff, Jourdain-Perpich Staff.
