Thomas Jude Reuter "Jude" "Tommy Jude" passed away at his home near Cass Lake, Minnesota on November 12, 2025, from complications of lung, heart and kidney diseases.
Tom was born in Bemidji on June 28, 1960 to John and Monica Reuter of Cass Lake and he joined 5 other siblings. At a young age, he became interested in music and with his strong independent nature, taught himself how to play the piano and later the guitar. Tom's music ability and dream was to be a professional rock guitar player in a band. He was encouraged by his maternal grandfather, Leo Dugas, who was also a self-taught professional musician and told Tom to keep playing that rock music. He reached that dream while playing as the opening act for several big-name music artists. He also had several well-known local bands whom he enjoyed playing gigs with and they always became good friends. Tom's creativity developed into composing music and making several CD's. He continued his creative side by developing a podcast which included working with several investigators assisting in solving cold and active crimes. He had developed many friends through his podcasts and had many followers.
Tom met Barbara Carlson and they raised two sons, Joey and Brad. Later in life, he met Rachel Jones and they had three children Julian, Jake and Jessica. Tom's most treasured time was always spending time with his kids, and later his grandkids, Julian, Jayden, Jordan, Jake and little Forrest. Tom truly treasured the family life boating with his kids and just hanging out with them. The last few years Tom's health became a challenge. His grandson Jake lived with his grandpa to help him with those ongoing health challenges. In 2025, he had many difficulties overcoming his health issues. Due to Tom's independent nature, he spent many hours doing health research, continuing his podcasts and of course, keeping in touch with family. The last week of Tom's life, he declined further diagnostic tests and decided he just wanted to go home. On November 12, during the night when the skies were filled with colorful aurora lights and sights of angels, Tom passed away after a long and very courageous fight against heart, lung and then kidney disease.
Those who preceded him in death: his eldest son Joey; his parents John and Monica Reuter, grandparents John and Fern Reuter, Leo and Hersilee Dugas, sister Michelle Reuter Showen, niece Courtney Reuter, brothers In law Brad Boyd, James Trudeau and Damon Showen.
He leaves behind his four children: Brad (Ashley), Julian (Lindsey), Jake and Jessica (Kat), grandchildren: Julian, Jayden, Jordan, Jake, and Forrest, his siblings: James Reuter (Patti), John Reuter, Carol Reuter Trudeau, Mary Jo Reuter, and Marlene Erickson (Kermit), 19 nieces and nephews, 31 great nieces and nephews and his very special healthcare nurse, Jessica, aunt Marlene Farrington plus many cousins and close friends.
Tom was independent, loving, full of life with a heart of gold. He will be missed by all those whom he crossed paths within his life journey and came to love him. RIP sweet little brother. You will be greatly missed by many.
