Tonya Jean Rust

Tonya Jean Rust, age 31, Bear Clan, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully at home in her husband’s arms on October 23, 2025.

Tonya was born in Bemidji, MN, to Toni Rushman and Bob Rust on March 28, 1994. Tonya loved spending time with her family, soaking up the sun rays, cooking out, shopping and chilling with her cat, Smokey. She was so fierce and spunky, but also very down-to-earth.

Those she leaves behind are her husband: Charles Oakgrove; mother: Toni Cloud; father: Bob Rust; sisters: Jessie Rabbit and Tiffany Rust; brother: Jack Parker; nieces, nephews and one great-niece.

Those she is reunited with are Grandma LeoJean; uncle Big Al; aunts, uncles and cousins.

A wake will begin at 3 PM on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Redby Center and will continue until the service on Friday, October 31, 2025 with Spiritual Leader Kelly Iceman. Active Pallbearers will be Charles Oakgrove, Frank Rabbit, Oyate Eagletail, Shawn Oakgrove, Jack Parker, David LaDuke. Alternatives: Joshua LaDuke, Cedric LaDuke Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be cousins, nieces and nephews.  Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving Northern Minnesota.
