Virgil Lee Ravensborg (Ma’iingan “wolf”) age 56, traveled to the spirit world on August 1, 2023 at his residence in Blackduck, MN. He was born on October 27, 1966 to Roger Ravensborg and Frances Rushman. He grew up in Big Falls MN and later moved to Redby MN for many years. Virgil lived in Bemidji MN until recently when he relocated to Blackduck MN. He worked as a Logger, PCA, and Mechanic most of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren as well as visiting friends and family. An amazing man and father with a heart of gold, he was known for his big happy smile and bigger personality. Virgil loved his pranks on family and friends and loved working on and playing with his toys he collected. He always lived life to the fullest and never let anything slow him down.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Natasha Smith and Neshia (Tylor) Roth; his grandsons Brayden Berube and Chaz Erickson; his granddaughters Victoria Cole, Vanessa Roth and Willow Roth; his brothers Micheal (Renee) Ostlund, Gordon Smith and Mark Smith; his father Roger Smith; and many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Those greeting him in the spirit world are his mother Frances Smith; his brothers Roger Ravensborg, SR and Thomas Ravensborg; his sister Sherry Ostlund; his special aunts Leojean Rushman, Emma Knudsen and Lavina Rushman; his nephew: Baylee Ravensborg; his great niece Savannah Ravensborg; and niece Shalyssa Ostlund.
The wake will be at 1 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Redby Center and continue until the service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Active Casketbearers will be Tylor Roth, Patrick Douglus, Alex Erickson, Gorden Smith, Kenneth Smith and Roger Ravensborg, Jr. Alternates: Robert Rushman, Jr and Zach Rushman. Honorary Casketbearers will be Virgil’s brothers, his father, Henry Rushman Jr (Hank), Robert Rushman Sr (Moe), Nieces and Nephews, Grandchildren, Duane Totland and Jacky (Jen) Horton. Final Resting Place will be at the Ravensborg Family Burial Grounds in Redby, Minnesota.
