Wallace James Kingbird III, Maiingan “Wolf”, Eagle Clan, age 34, travelled to the spirit world on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Wallace was born on November 5, 1988 in Bemidji, MN to Melvina Jackson and Wallace Kingbird Jr. Wallace grew up in Redby and Ponemah. He graduated from Red Lake High School in 2009. He worked various jobs at the casinos and most recently worked as a cashier. He loved to play video games, attend pow wows and sing pow wow tunes. He was always a polite young man who loved to laugh and joke. Wallace enjoyed hunting, fishing and speaking the Ojibwe language.
He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Melanie Jourdain, Melvin (Nancy) Jackson, Rod (Sam) Jackson, James Fairbanks; as well as numerous cousins, aunts uncles and other relatives.
Those greeting him in the spirit world are his parents: Melvina Jackson and Wallace Kingbird Jr.; maternal grandparents: Maggie and Melvin Jackson; paternal grandparents: Ella and Wallace Kingbird Sr.; two infant siblings, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A traditional wake will begin at 1PM on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service on Tuesday November 14, 2023 with Zac Earley and Ty Stately as spiritual leaders. Active pallbearers will be: George Strong, Gordon “Chopper” Fairbanks, Darren French Jr., Corey Whitefeather, Dakota Rosebear and Tyler Rosebear. Honorary pallbearers will be Marlys Schoenborn, Jan Roberts, Maureen Thunder, Cobie Schoenborn, Melody Strong, Melanie Jourdain, Kathy French, Cindy Kingbird, Shannon Kingbird, Lana Whitefeather, Crystal Gail, Sober Squad of Duluth and his family and cousins.
